Midland High School to Host Veteran’s Day Celebration

On Friday, November 10th, Midland High School will host its annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.  The Midland High School Student Council invites all veterans and members of the community to join us at our annual assembly and brunch.

The program will start at 9:00 AM in the high school gym with the posting of the colors by the American Legion Post #593. The ceremony will have presentations and performances from both the middle and high school students. Members from the Midland High School Student Council will host the ceremony.  The 5-12th grade chorus students will perform and the Midland High School band will perform the Armed Forces on Parade.  Our guest speaker this year will be Vietnam War Veteran Sam Rice.  Sam served with the US Army from June of 1969 through August of 1970 in which time he was awarded 3 bronze star medals of valor for his service.

The assembly will be followed by a complimentary brunch for the veterans and their families in the Midland High School Media Center provided by the Family and Consumer Science students from the high school with the help from their instructor, Mrs. Carla Schaer.

The Midland High School Student Council would like to recognize all community veterans and their families from past and present through a video presentation.  They would like to encourage any member of the community that has a connection to a veteran to send or bring a picture to the school of that person so that it may be included in the presentation.  All pictures will be scanned and returned.  If you would like to email a picture, please send the picture to:  cdossett@midland-7.net.  Pictures must be submitted by November 1, 2017. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the high school office for more information at 309-463-2095.
