Dean Poignant, born and raised in rural Woodford County, Illinois, is the long-time district library media specialist at Midland Community School District #7. Prior to working here, Dean practiced law in the Lacon and Peoria areas.  Dean is certified to teach library science, English, and special education, and he also teaches a dual credit business law course in collaboration with Illinois Central College.  Dean holds a juris doctor degree from the University of North Dakota Law School and a bachelor's degree from Quincy University.  He also completed the library science secondary education program from the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science and the learning behavioral specialist program at Roosevelt University in Chicago.  In addition to teaching Dean also farms in rural Marshall County.
